The Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) is more than a document referring to the commercial regime. Its implementation will offer the possibility of anchoring Moldova in a system of generally recognized values. Moldova’s market will be integrated into a large market, with 500 million consumers. The DCFTA means less corruption and more rights for companies and consumers of their products, more freedom in promoting creative initiatives and more economic dynamism, Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola said in a public debate on the impact of the DCFTA on economic entities, IPN reports.
The event was staged by the Ministry of Economy, in partnership with the European Business Association and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which form part of the World Bank Group. “The European integration is a transformational process that will enable to modernize the country and the economy,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar.
In the conference, DCFTA chief negotiators Luc Pierre Devigne and Octavian Calmac presented the latest developments in the negotiations and the impact on the agricultural, industrial and services sectors and answered the questions put by entrepreneurs. They referred especially to such aspects as standardization, certification of products, and he customs and fiscal regime.
Moderator Eugen Osmochescu, of the IFC, said it was the first conference of a series that will be held in 2014 with the aim of explaining the provisions of the DCFTA, the implementation method, the advantages, competitive requirements and the assistance offered by the EU for meeting them to economic entities.
The events will be organized with the financial support of the Government of Sweden. Swedish Ambassador to Moldova Ingrid Tersman said that Sweden, as Moldova, is a small country with an open economy, but it managed to obtain success in development and prosperity for its people. She voiced hope that the Moldovan companies will fructify the new opportunities and will build a good future for them, their families and the country.
