Days of Slavonic language and culture have begun in Chisinau

The Days of Slavonic language and culture have begun in Chisinau on Monday, May 21, with a flower-laying ceremony at the monuments to outstanding personalities of the Slavonic culture, located in the capital city, Info-Prim Neo reports. As part of the festivity, the Saint Prince Vladimir and Saint George Churches will held liturgies in memory of those who worked at the creation of the Cyrillic alphabet, Cyril and Methodius. In the evening of the same day, the stage in front of the National Opera Theatre will host a concert dedicated to the Days of Slavonic written language and culture. The programme of the event includes various conferences, “Ukrainians in the Moldovan culture” museum open day, round table on “Forerunners of the European Renaissance”, book presentations organised by the Bulgarian Society, Evening of the Ukrainian Music, competitions, exhibitions and poetry recitals. At the same time, in other regions of the country, in Balti and in the Territorial Administrative Unit Gagauzia different shows and exhibitions, festivals will also be held. A presentation of the Slavic cuisine is to be held in Glodeni. The Days of Slavonic written language and culture in Moldova will end on Saturday, May 26 on the National Philharmonics stage, where a special concert will take place.
