“Days of Creangă” in online format

The eleventh Festival “Days of Creangă” will be staged in the Republic of Moldova during March 1-5. Despite the difficult conditions amid the pandemic restrictions, the event will be held online and will bring together institutions of Romania and the Republic of Moldova. For the first time, this will involve the Children’s Library “Ion Creangă” of Bălți, IPN reports.

Eugenia Bejan, director of the National Children’s Library “Ion Creangă”, said that different institutions and organizations from Chisinau, Orhei, Bălți, Iasi, Târgu-Neamț and Pipirig combined forces to organize a program of online events that will involve students, teachers, researchers, artists and librarians.

The festival starts on March 1 with laying of flowers at Ion Creangă’s bust on the Alley of Classics in the central park of Chisinau “Stephan the Great” and at the writer’s bust in the Copou Park of Iasi. The event “My Ion Creangă” will be held later and will involve writer Olguța Creangă Caia, Ion Creangă’s great-granddaughter.

The program for March 2, 3, 4 and 5 includes symposiums, literary-musical performances and a Storytellers’ Parade.

“We encourage the children to draw inspiration from Ion Creangă’s childhood memories, his humor accompanied by irony and, surely, the very rich vocabulary of storyteller Ion Creangă. The organizers aim to involve as many institutions that bear the name of Ion Creangă as possible in the festival,” stated Eugenia Bejan.

All the events of the festival will be broadcast on the Facebook page of the National Children’s Library “Ion Creangă.
