Days of Chisinau to be held in Botoșani

Romania’s Botoșani during three days, August 5-7, will host the Traditional Culture Days and the Days of Chisinau. The program includes book launches, artistic performances, exhibitions and film screenings. The events are organized by the Chisinau City Hall together with the Botoșani County Council, IPN reports.

The event is officially opened at “Mihai Eminescu” Hall of Rapsodia Hotel in Botoșani at 12 noon. Two books will be launched as part the symposium “Tradition and Contemporaneity”: “Former Chisinau” by Andrei Eșanu and Valentina Eșanu and “Sacred Time, Former Holidays” by Marcel Lutic.

Starting at 5pm, Bogdan-Mihai Simion and the band “Lăutarii de Mătase” will give a recital on the Union Pedestrian Square. This will be followed by the fifth edition of the Folk Music Festival and Contest “Constantin Lupu”. An-open air film showing will be held at 9am.

The programs for the next days include the mounting of a painting exposition at the Ipotești Memorial – National Study Center “Mihai Eminescu”, the 16th edition of the Festival and Contest of Brass Bands on the Union Pedestrian Square, the 15th International Folk Song, Dance and Costume Festival “Vasile Andriescu”, performances by the ethnic and folkloric ensemble “Romanița” of Chisinau and by “Lupii lui Calancea” and Guz.

Throughout the event, Moldovan and Romanian craftspeople will exhibit their creations for sale on the Union Pedestrian Square.
