The Danish NGO SILBA - Initiative for Dialogue and Democracy will organize an Election Observation Mission for the October 30 presidential elections in Moldova. The team consisting of 15 Danish observers and three coordinators will monitor the elections together with the partner association in Chisinau “Promo-LEX”, IPN reports.
In a press release, SILBA says the mission will arrive in Chisinau on October 26, when the pre-election program will be launched. During four days of intensive program, the SILBA observers will be informed about the history and past of the country and will be instructed in different subjects related to the mission.
The mission’s program includes presentations and seminars on the local electoral law, meetings with representatives of the Embassy of Sweden in Moldova, discussions with the Youth Council, a presentation on the parties involved in the electoral race by the NGO ADEPT and other representatives working in the field.
On October 30, the SILBA delegation will monitor the elections at a number of polling stations together with a local observer of the partner association. The mission will end with a report based on the observations of each volunteer, which will afterward be presented at an OSCE conference the next day after the election day.
The press release says SILBA organizes such a mission to Moldova not for the first time. It started to monitor the parliamentary elections of 2009 and was present at all the elections since then.
Founded in 1994, SILBA – Initiative for Dialogue and Democracy is a cross-political youth organization working for democracy and dialogue in Eastern Europe, the Balkans and Caucasus.
