Daniel Vodă: Our development model is oriented towards wellbeing of citizens

The development model promoted by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova is a democratic one, oriented towards the wellbeing of citizens, the spokesman for the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Daniel Vodă stated at a public debate hosted by IPN News Agency. According to him, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova on November 3 must make a conscious choice and the purpose of the state institutions is to ensure a free and democratic electoral process, without external influences.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean’s spokesman explained that the citizens' vote on October 20 was influenced by forces from outside the Republic of Moldova. According to the prosecutor general, the scheme of corrupting voters through transfers from Russia was planned by the Russian intelligence services.

"The prosecutor general clearly explained that the Prosecutor's Office possesses information showing that since the spring of this year, the law enforcement officers have been documenting attempts to influence the election, based on lists, with different candidates with whom this criminal group worked. The prosecutor general explained that the scheme based on bank transfers through a Russian bank was created by the Russian intelligence services. On November 3, we have a very important choice to make. I want the police, prosecutors, courts to focus on strict compliance with the law. Over time, the citizens have shown that they are on the side of justice. On November 3, it is important for every citizen to go out and choose freely and consciously," stated Daniel Vodă.

He reiterated that the authorities' objective is to unite society and explain the advantages of joining the European Union. The development model promoted by the Moldovan authorities is democratic and focuses on the enhancement of citizens’ wellbeing.

"Russia's goals in the Republic of Moldova have been and will remain, but this is the Kremlin's agenda. We have our agenda. It is very clear and is aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens, following our development model, showing that the democratic development model is the best model. With the support that the European Union offers to us, roads are built, schools, kindergartens, stadiums are rehabilitated. The money that the Kremlin pours into propaganda and disinformation is a very bad investment. There is a lot of fuss around the relations between Russia and the Republic of Moldova, but, in fact, due to the war in Ukraine, the relationship between the two states is at a very low level. There is only communication at the level of embassies," explained Daniel Vodă.

Daniel Vodă pointed out that the goals in the runoff presidential election are very big and the people must make the decision consciously, without interference from outside the country. It is crucial for the Republic of Moldova to continue the European development path.

"Russia decided to support an organized criminal group, the Shor group. This shows what kind of values this global player promotes. I believe that even the Russian-speaking population no longer falls into the trap of the messages disseminated by Russia. All the people want to live well and it would be good for this to happen now, not in 5-10 years. Given the European path of the Republic of Moldova, we see that well-being is possible faster than in the case of other countries. Our development model is oriented towards the wellbeing of citizens. We don't want to be blackmailed. Now we need to focus on the second round of the presidential election. We have two candidates and we have to prove that we can make conscious decisions, based on rational arguments. I consider it is important to maintain a clear and stable course of development, a course that will give us the opportunity to be a member state of the European Union,” said the Prime Minister's spokesman Daniel Vodă.

The public debate entitled "Russia's interference in the choice of Moldova: goals, manifestations, effects" was held as part of IPN’s project "Development of political culture through public debates". IPN Agency carries out the project with support from the German Hanns Seidel Foundation.
