The Republic of Moldova is a top priority for Romania, said Romania’s Ambassador in Chisinau Daniel Ioniță. He expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the pro-European forces hold absolute power in the Republic of Moldova and this enabled to intensify the relations between the two states. The official noted Romania will further support Moldova’s European course without any reservation, IPN reports.
Ambassador Daniel Ioniță said that after the Party of Action and Solidarity took over, the partnerships between Romania and the Republic of Moldova intensified and this is confirmed by the roadmap for Moldovan-Romanian cooperation that was signed by foreign affairs ministers Bogdan Aurescu and Nicu Popescu. In accordance with this document, energy and road infrastructure projects will be launched, while the €100 million non-reimbursable assistance agreement signed in 2010 by the Governments of the two states will be extended.
In the talk show “Emphasis on Today” on TVR Moldova channel, the ambassador said the news that came from Chisinau this year was very good. This news enabled to resume the bilateral dialogue at multiple levels with increased intensity. The Presidents of the two states met for four times already, twice in Chisinau and twice in Bucharest.
Daniel Ioniță noted the current government managed to bring Moldova on the agendas of the large European chancelleries. The overcoming of the period of international isolation was confirmed by multiple visits paid by European officials and by the unlocking of financial assistance by the development partners.
“We saw that during this short period, there were resumed all the cooperation relations with the international patterns, with Western partners. The previous days, the Republic of Moldova signed a new agreement with the IMF and €60 million of the macro-financial assistance was transferred. Things started to move on and I consider this is seen by the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. Evidently, the citizens face a rise in prices caused by the higher energy prices. But we must look at what’s going on at European level too and will see that this problem affects absolutely all the European states to a particular extent,” said Daniel Ioniță.
The diplomat also said that the energy file is the main one on the agenda of the Moldovan-Romanian meetings and Romania is ready to help Moldova ensure its energy security, both as regards natural gas and electrical power. Moldova’s interconnection with the European electricity market can be ensured during three-four years.
