Daniel Ionita: Moldova has chances to become again Eastern Partnership leader

The Republic of Moldova has chances to become again the leader of the Eastern Partnership, but this implies increased commitment, greater responsibility and greater seriousness in implementing the laws adopted by Parliament, some of which are very good, Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ionita stated in the program “In the focus” on Impact TV channel, IPN reports.

According to him, to become a champion in the EaP, the Republic of Moldova should better communicate the advantages of the rapprochement with the European Union. “The EU is not only a slogan, a flag behind which you can hide when you want to promote your political, party or momentary, opportunistic interests, but is also an ideal in which you should really believe because this ideal involves an essential thing that is expected by all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova: stability and prosperity,” stated Daniel Ionita.

The Romanian diplomat said the relations between the two banks of the Prut have accentuated dynamics, are consolidated and develop constantly. The projects implemented by Romania in Moldova benefit the Moldovan citizens, regardless of their status, ethnicity and spoken language. “The Republic of Moldova is the main destination of the development assistance provided by Romania. Moreover, 65% of the development aid offered by Romania is intended for the Republic of Moldova,” he noted.
