Danger of flooding persists
The danger of flooding persists in a number of Moldovan settlements. Mobile teams monitor the situation round the clock, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo.
The districts of Ungheni and Cantemir and other districts in southern Moldova, where the Prut flows into the Danube, remain high-risk areas.
In order to prevent floods, the protection dams are strengthened with sacks of sand. Soldiers and carabineers were dispatched to those areas to help the population.
100 employees of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service with five vehicles, 30 military men of the Ministry of Defense and the Border Guard Service, 58 carabineers and over 100 residents with five vehicles work to fortify the barrage in Macaresti village of Ungheni district.
When the risk of inundation disappears and the volume and level of water decrease, the Nistru and Prut will be no more under permanent monitoring.
