Dan Stoenescu: I’m optimistic about Romanian identity in Moldova

Dan Stoenescu, Romanian Minister Delegate for Relations with Romanians Everywhere, considers the situation concerning the Romanian identity in Moldova has improved. He developed the issue in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

“I visited the Republic of Moldova 19 years ago. I now see considerable changes. In towns, they speak more Romanian. The young people speak a clean Romanian language. The difference compared with 20 years ago is very great,” said the Romanian official.

Dan Stoenescu also said Romania will continue to help Moldova in the economic sector and in the sociocultural sphere so that it integrates into the European space. “Romania worked hard to bring Moldova to Europe and to bring Europe to the Republic of Moldova. Annually, the Romanian state offers the Moldovan young people 5,000 scholarships. A number of 800 Moldovan nurseries and the theater in Cahul have been repaired with Romanian funds. We are interested to see how things change. We plan to organize internships for journalists. We hope that Romanian information centers will be opened in Balti and Taraclia,” he stated.

Dan Stoenescu expressed his regret at the fact that a small number of Moldovans holding Romanian nationality registered in the Electronic Register of Voters.
