Dan Perciun: We do not regret collaborating with PSRM, yet some regret certain decisions

The ACUM bloc does not regret collaborating with PSRM, yet some people regret certain decisions made afterwards. The statement was made by Dan Perciun, PAS MP, ACUM bloc, at the debate regarding "Relations between government components: experience, expectations, challenges", during the 116th edition of the cycle "Development of political culture in public debates", organized by the IPN Press Agency and Radio Moldova.

"We are not happy with 100% of the things that happened after we established our relationship with PSRM, however, we learned our lesson and we will do our best to avoid similar situations in the future", said Dan Perciun. The MP pointed out that the ACUM-PSRM relationship can only continue if there is a consensus regarding justice reform.

The MP said that in some parliamentary committees there is no numerical balance between PSRM and ACUM members and that it is hard to avoid having a partisan committee. His statement referred to the contests for important state functions, the results of which shows that the aim of the contests was not to departisanize the respective institutions.

Dan Perciun claimed that how the following elections are carried out depends on how government components communicate during the election campaign. "I want a fair election campaign, a campaign in which solutions are debated. To what extent will we succeed in having a campaign without ad hominem, without fake news, without mutual denigration, depends on us and our level of political maturity”, said Dan Perciun.

In this context, the parliamentarian said that he wants the Republic of Moldova to become a country where, first of all, ideas are being debated. “Structurally, the ACUM bloc and the PSRM have different positions of the political spectrum. Each entity fights for its own electoral segment, which makes things simpler. Our voters know us and PSRM voters know their representatives. I have no fears that ACUM bloc voters will vote with the Socialists or that PSRM voters, overnight, will become pro-European and will vote for us”, said Dan Perciun.

Dan Perciun added that the ACUM bloc is attempting to avoid geopolitical issues that could ignite and divide the society. "In the coming months, there is no data that has geopolitical connotations, which makes the situation simpler", said the MP. He added that if good results will be delivered to people, the critique of the opponents will be obsolete. "All the risks concerning the quality of the relationship between the existing government components can be managed", said Dan Perciun.

The public debate "Relations between government components: experience, expectations, challenges" is part of the 116th edition of the cycle "Development of political culture in public debates", held with the support of the German Hanns Seidel Foundation.
