Teachers’ salaries will be increased from January 1, 2025, assured Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun. According to the official, the Government is still examining the revenues of the state budget and in October-November it will be clear how much teachers’ salaries will rise, IPN reports.
The minister noted that in 2024 there will be no more salary increases for teachers, as teachers’ salaries were raised on January 1, 2024. The next pay raise is planned for 2025.
“I have previously said that there will be no raises this year. A raise will follow on January 1, 2025. No one will give details about the size of the raise now. We are in the process of finalizing the planning for the next three years. We are having discussions on the budget. We are now clarifying the situation regarding the resources that will be available next year. Between October and November, we will have clarity as to how much the salaries will be increased next year,” Dan Perciun stated in the talk show “Resumé” on RliveTv.
The official assured that the raise will depend on the available state budget revenues. The exact value of the increase will be announced this autumn.
“Obviously, there will be new raises. They exist every year. But everyone now has expectations about the size of these raises. I don’t think there has been a year in the history of the Republic of Moldova when there were no such raises. They will be. The question is, how large will these raises be? And we will be able to say this more clearly between October and November when we will know much better how the budget for 2025 will look like,” said the Minister of Education and Research.
Teachers’ salaries were raised on January 1, 2024. At that time, the reference value for this category of public servants was increased from 2000 to 2300, which represented a pay raise of 15%. For this purpose, one billion lei was allocated from the state budget.
