Dan Olaru performs outstandingly at Olympics
Moldovan archer Dan Olaru produced an outstanding performance at the Olympic Games in London. On Wednesday, August 1, he qualified for the 1/8 finals of the individual male archery competition, Info-Prim Neo reports.
First, the 15-year-old bested USA’s Jake Kaminski in a spectacular extra round 6-5. Then, he went on to confidently outclass Great Britain’s Simon Terry 7-1.
In the 1/8 finals, on Friday, August 3, Olaru will meet Bubmin Kim from South Korea, who has already won the bronze medal in the teams tournament.
No Moldovans are involved in today’s competitions.
So far, Moldova won only a bronze medal thanks to weightlifter Cristina Iovu. In the coming days, Moldova’s colors will be defended by 10 athletes, 2 wrestlers, one weightlifter and one boxer.
The medals table is topped by China with 17 gold medals, 9 silver and 4 bronze. Moldova shares the 39th place with 11 countries that won only a bronze medal.
