Prosecutors last year ordered taking legal action in 443 cases of tax evasion. A number of 45 cases were sent to court for examination, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the damage caused to the state by tax evasion was assessed at about 22 million lei. Sentences to convict private individuals and legal entities were passed in 23 cases.

In 2014, the prosecutors examined 815 cases of the kind. As many as 494 criminal cases, including cases started the previous years, were still dealt with at the end of last year.
