The children who temporarily or permanently remained without parental care and attend an education institution will benefit from a daily allowance from the fifth grade up to the age of 18. The Cabinet approved the regulations concerning the payment of daily allowances for children that were drafted by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, IPN reports.
Under the regulations, the daily allowance is a fixed sum of money provided to children who remained without parental care for individual management. On ordinary days, the allowance will be 10 lei. On the child’s birthday, this will be 100 lei. On New Year, Christmas (December 25 or January 7), Easter and June 1, when it is celebrated the International Children’s Day, the children will get by 70 lei.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip approved of the institution of the daily allowance and of the regulations, saying this document is socially important as it helps increase the welfare of children who remained without parental care and also contributes to developing the individual abilities to efficiently manage the own money.
Daily allowances this year will be paid to 2,600 children. A sum of 10.4 million lei was earmarked for the purpose.
As of April 1, 2019, the daily allowance will be indexed.
