Dacia Chisinau is close to being eliminated from Europa League. Moldova’s vice champion was beaten in Chisinau by the Slovak team Zilina in the first-leg match of the second qualifying round of Europa League, IPN reports.
Zilina won by 2-1 after leading by 2-0. Croatian player Matej Jelic scored two goals, in the 53rd and 59th minutes. The end of the game was dominated by Dacia, which scored the goal of honor through halfback Maxim Mihaliov, who transformed a free kick.
“We controlled the game, but two individual mistakes prevented us from achieving a positive result. We continue yet to hope for qualification,” Dacia coach Igor Dobrovolski told a news conference.
The return game between Zilina and Dacia will be played in Slovakia on July 23. In the previous round, Dacia eliminated Renova of Macedonia by a general score of 5-1.
