Repair works on the portion of Dacia Blvd. from the Chisinau City Gates to the police post near the suburban town of Singera have not been completed yet, despite a deadline being set by the municipal authorities for August 15. Repair was only completed on the portion from the City Gates to the Chisinau Airport. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, municipal transportation and roads division head Adrian Boldurescu said that on the remaining portion a protective bituminuous layer still needs to be applied to complete the works. “We'll start the works as soon as the weather allows it”, he said, adding that even without this final protective coat the portion of the road looks better than before. Boldurescu explained that the works on this segment proved difficult because of the very complex infrastructure. At the same time, interviewed motorists think that the authorities aren't interested anymore in completing the repair promptly, after the segment from the Airport to the city was already repaired, in time to welcome German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The repair is part of a joint Government-Municipality road rehabilitation project. The Road Ministry allocated 17 million lei for the purpose, and the Municipality is to allocate further 20 million lei: 10 million for the road repair and 10 million for street lighting.
