The interim president of the Dignity and Truth (DA) Platform Dinu Plîngă has sent a draft petition to the Speaker of Parliament Igor Grosu asking a constitutional review of the Șor Party.
According to Constitutional Jurisdiction Code provisions, the petition can be submitted to the Constitutional Court by the Parliament speaker. The interim DA Platform president said that "the presence of the Șor party on the Moldovan political arena is a disgrace and a defiance to the rule of law, while the history of this party, in its illegal form, dates back to the time when controversial businessman and bank fraudster Ilan Șor used this political party as a legal entity".
Dinu Plîngău said that "this entity participated in the forced preservation of Plahotniuc's power in 2019, by financing groups of people whose basic task was to intimidate and block the activity of state institutions (a fact confirmed in MAI and SIS official reports presented to the anti-constitutional coup commission), and that Șor Party's modus operandi is based on corrupting citizens and civil servants, which significantly undermines the rule of law and creates public perceptions that if you steal large amounts, you end up with a "party" in Parliament".
"This entity does not cease to use its standard levers to discourage people from talking about high-profile crimes and about the beneficiaries of these crimes", said Dinu Plîngău. The DA Platform said that it is important to check the constitutionality of the Șor Party and to establish principles which guide the activities of Moldovan political parties.
