Moldova is an important partner for the Czech Republic, said the Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, who is in Chisinau on an official visit. He noted that Moldova made great progress in implementing the Association Agreement with the EU, ranking first among the three countries that signed such an accord, IPN reports.
Bohuslav Sobotka was met by Prime Minister Pavel Filip at the State Residence. After the meeting, the officials made statements for the press.
The Czech Premier said that by this visit he expresses his support for the Republic of Moldova and the wish to develop the cooperation between the two states. He voiced hope that the Czech delegation’s visit will contribute to strengthening the bilateral relations.
According to Bohuslav Sobotka, the Czech Republic wants to contribute to modernizing a number of fields of activity in Moldova. Moldova exports food products and should develop this type of trade. The Czech technologies could be applied in agriculture too.
For his part, Pavel Filip said the Czech Republic is a key partner for Moldova. He assured his Czech counterpart that the Moldovan authorities are determined to continue doing reforms.
The Moldovan Premier noted that the discussions with Bohuslav Sobotka centered on the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU, the progress made in carrying out the roadmap and the prospects of strengthening bilateral cooperation. He thanked the Czech authorities for the financial support provided to Moldova and invited Czech investors to invest in businesses in Moldova.
Bohuslav Sobotka is making an official visit to Moldova during June 9-10. He will yet have meetings with President Nicolae Timofti and Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu.
