Starting with next year, the Customs Service will work based on a new organogram that envisions the transfer of powers and responsibilities to customs offices and cutting of administrative posts. The new changes will be accompanied by salary raises whose size will depend on performance, Customs Service director general Vitalie Vrabie said in a meeting, IPN reports.
In a press release, the institution says that according to the new organogram, the seven customs offices will be merged and three subdivisions will be created: North, Center and South. The number of employees will be reduced to 1,520, down from 1,728 at present.
The given measures will be completed by this yearend. A series of actions were ordered in this regard to ensure the smooth running of the reorganization process. The meeting also discussed the powers of the Central Staff and customs offices and the mechanisms of interaction between them.
“It is important to ensure the irreproachable functioning of the new bodies so that all those involved – business entities, customs brokers and employees – feel the effects of optimizations. The commitments we made on this dimension impose new requirements that we must meet. Therefore, we will continue to insist on the improvement of professionalism and integrity among employees, while those who will meet these requirements will be remunerated appropriately,” stated Vitalie Vrabie.
The conception of the new organogram was worked out with the methodological assistance of the EU High-Level Advisor on Customs Rosario de Blasio, the application of the best international practices in customs administration being thus ensured.
