Customs officers seize smuggled poultry

Nine tonnes of frozen poultry, transported in anti-sanitary conditions, have been sized on Friday morning, February 2, in the Central Market, by the officers of the Division for Customs Frauds of the Customs Service, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the press service of the Customs Service, Ion Magu, the frozen poultry was transported with a KAMAZ lorry, which came from the Transnistrian region. The owners of the batch of poultry introduced the merchandise in Moldova illegally, avoiding the customs clearance. They did not pay customs duties valued at 54,000 lei. For evading payment of customs duties, the owners risk facing a fine of 500 to 1000 conventional units or jail terms from 3 to 5 years. The total value of the smuggled goods is estimated at 134,000 lei.
