The current election campaign can be characterized by lack of political culture and presence of accusations and aggressive language used by political leaders. Some of the politicians forget that they will have to sit at the negotiating table with their opponents in the current campaign after the parliamentary elections. The issue was developed in the talk show “Direct access” on NTV Moldova channel.
Jurist Pavel Midrigan said some of the politicians reveal details that do not match the status of future rulers of the state. “In the current campaign, this aspect is more evident than in other campaigns. We ask ourselves: what example these persons give to us? I do not like such politicians,” he stated.
Maxim Lebedinski, the representative of the Party of Socialists at the Central Election Commission, described the current campaign as “the campaign of absurdity” as some of the electoral contenders go beyond the legal and moral limits and no measures are taken in relation to them, while were no violations are committed from legal viewpoint, they look for reasons to make interpretations and find alleged irregularities.
According to him, the Election Code clearly defines the limits between what is allowed and what is not allowed in the campaign. “The people wait for something concrete, to be explained how the economy will be developed and how corruption will be fought. I call on all the election runners to obey the law,” stated Maxim Lebedinski.
The election campaign ends on February 24 when the parliamentary elections and the consultative referendum will take place.
