The buildings and assets belonging to cultural institutions or administrated by local authorities will undergo a two-month inventory and registration with the cadaster system, under a decision recently adopted by the Government.

Culture Minister Monica Babuc said the measure is in connection with the decentralization processes and following amendments that transfer the duties of maintaining and funding cultural institutions from first-level to second-level local authorities.

During the transfer, many records confirming ownership of the buildings and assets were found to be missing. Additionally, there are no clear procedures for delimiting ownership over the transmitted assets between the local authorities and the state. The inventory aims to correct this.
