The Superior Council of Prosecutors will examine on Wednesday, November 20, the candidacies for the position of General Prosecutor.
At today's meeting, the CSP approved the Regulation on how to organize, conduct and evaluate the results of the candidate selection for the position of General Prosecutor.
Oleg Crâșmaru, senior criminal investigation officer at the National Anticorruption Center, Vladislav Gribincea, lawyer and chairman of the Center for Legal Resources, Veaceslav Soltan, department head within the General Prosecutor's Office, and Alexandr Stoianoglo, lawyer, former deputy Prosecutor General and former Democratic Party MP, are the four preselected candidates out of the 16 admitted to the competition for the position of General Prosecutor.
Olesea Stamate, the former minister of justice, canceled on November 6 the results of the candidate pre-selection contest for the position of General Prosecutor. The invoked reasons for the cancellation was that the members of the commission, in absence of complete information, could not make a thorough evaluation of the aspects related to the integrity of the candidates and that at least one of the evaluators would have offered non-objective assessments.
The new Minister of Justice, Fadei Nagacevschi, has decided to submit the short list with the four candidates to the CSP. In a press briefing, Fadei Nagacevschi said that he analyzed how the contest was canceled and found that the former minister breached the law.
