Crumbling ditch kills 2 in Straseni
Two employees of SA Apa-Canal Straseni have died squeezed by a crumbling ditch. The press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, Tatiana Corceac, has told Info-Prim Neo, the tragedy occurred on Saturday, right in the center Straseni town, near the railway station. The men were in the ditch when it broke down. They were taken out to the surface, but they were already dead.
A 48-year-old man from Crihana-Veche village, Cahul, drowned Saturday in the nearby lake. The corpse was taken out only on Sunday by rescuers. The man was fishing as other circumstances are probed.
A 54-year-old man from Socii-Vechi, Floresti, was found stifled in his house. He fell asleep as his cigarette was burning flaring many objects in the room.
Also on Saturday, a Mercedes E-300 caught fire and burnt completely, as it was running. Thje incident occurred near Malaiesti, Orhei. The damages are assessed at 60,000 lei.
1,537 fires have been registered this year in Moldova, claiming 127 lives, including 9 children, and damaging 111 vehicles.
