The criticism leveled at the government of Moldova by MEPs is a shame for the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, this fully coincides with the Moldovans’ perception, said experts invited to the talk show “Expertise hour” on Jurnal TV channel, IPN reports.
“It is a big shame for the Republic of Moldova. Owing to the obscure interests of two persons, namely Vladimir Plahotniuc and Igor Dodon, Moldova distances itself from the European course and risks turning into a gray area,” said the deputy head of the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Alexandru Slusari.
Political analyst Victor Ciobanu noted that MEPs’ views coincide with the population’s opinion stated in the last opinion poll. “Only the opinion about what the rulers think about them does not coincide, but these live in a parallel world,” he said.
Political commentator Alexandru Petkov said the reality shows that the only ruling party - the Democratic Party – should be transferred from under the Electoral Code to under the Penal Code.
Valeriu Ghiletski, of the parliamentary group of the European People’s Party of Moldova, said the MEPs formulated objective criticism, but also pure political opinions. “We cannot accept all the criticism because it is not all well-founded. The reasonable criticism should be yet analyzed and accepted,” he stated.
A number of MEPs said the political class in Moldova should leave hypocrisy aside and this should be penalized by imposing conditions for providing financial support, such as observing the democratic principles and using the money offered by the EU for the right purpose. Also, some of the MEPs said the macro-financial assistance should be stopped.
