Cristina Vulpe – portrait of candidate for mayor of Chisinau

The article forms part of IPN’s information campaign that presents biographical data, information about the incomes and property and professional experience of candidates for mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau.

Cristina Vulpe is contending for the post of mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau on behalf of the Chance Party that is led by journalist Alexei Lungu.

She was born on November 6, 1981. She graduated from the Faculty of Languages, the Romanian Language and Literary specialty, of the Moldova State University (USM). In 2003-2005, she studied for a master’s of philology, while in 2006-2011 she studied for her doctorate at the Faculty of Languages of the USM. In 2019, she began to study for a doctor’s degree at the State University “Dimitrie Cantemir” and continues her studies there.

In 2004-2005, she worked as a lecturer at the Faculty of Languages of the USM. In 2003-2011, she also worked as a teacher of Romanian language and literature at the Theoretical Lyceum “Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra”. In 2005-2007, she headed the Romanian Language and Literature Department of the same educational institution. In 2009-2016, she taught the Romanian language to other language speakers at the Romanian Language House “Nikita Stănescu”.

In her CV, Cristina Vulpe says that she worked as a Romanian teacher at a number of entities, including the OSCE and the International Center of Training and Professional Development. Since 2006 until present, she has worked as an events moderator. In 2011-2016, she worked as a proofreader for the magazine “Escape”. In 2016-2017, she served as a senior specialist at the Technical Vocational Education Division of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Vocational Education. Since 2017, she has headed the Continuous Training Unit of the same Division.

For January 1 – December 31, 2023, she didn’t indicate salaries. She declared almost 195,000 lei earnings from services provided based on patent, a donation for minor children of €2,400, over 44,000 lei in child benefit and also 10,771 RON in child benefit from Romania.

In 2014, Cristina Vulpe purchased an apartment of 70 square meters for over 436,000 lei and the same year was donated a house of over 100 square meters to the value of almost 25,000 lei. In 2021, she bought a car made in 2014 for almost €14,000. In 2014, she raised a bank loan of 435,000 lei at an interest rate of 11%, which is repayable by 2034.

In the event held to launch her election campaign, the candidate said that Chisinau City needs a belt road, smart traffic lights, parking places, including underground ones, both in the center of the capital city and on the periphery, so that it is considerably decongested. She promised to renovate major and secondary streets and to build new roads. She said that together with her team, she will found a modern municipal road building company and this will help save 30% of the city’s financial resources. She pledged to launch a maternal capital program in support of young parents and to pay by 1,000 lei in social assistance to persons whose pensions are lower than 5,000 lei will.

As it was decided by draw, Cristina Vulpe of the Chance Party will be under No. 20 on the ballot.
