Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic said the so-called Transnistrian authorities do not want a common working group between doctors to be created to fight COVID-19. The Transnistrian side rejected such a proposal and came with a wave of misinformation instead, IPN reports.

“We are in a period of crisis when we need not only assistance, but also efficient communication. Chisinau and I, personally, repeatedly offered the possibility of having a principled discussion within a working group between doctors. This proposal was regrettably rejected by Tiraspol. Their approach centered on media misinformation and this wave of misinformation was aimed at Chisinau as at someone that encroaches upon Tiraspol’s decisions,” Cristina Lesnic stated in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel.

According to the official, the authorities should be prudent as the process of preventing and combating this pandemic cannot be conducted separately.

“We need to go in parallel as local transmission means an additional hotbed. We asked the WHO to take part if we set up this working group between Chisinau and Tiraspol and this expressed its broad availability. Today we are in the situation in which a working group cannot be created as this is not wanted,” stated Cristina Lesnic.

She noted that the so-called Transnistrian authorities say the situation in the region has improved, but things stand differently.

“They speculate that things in the region calmed down, but we consider that they exaggerate. The biological material collected there is tested for COVID-19 in labs in Chisinau. That’s why we will insist not only within the format we have , but also by diplomatic, political and other available channels so as to hasten the solving of this problem,” said the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration.

She informed that the import of medicines into the region takes place as usual and there are also no impediments to the import of food products. The economic activities are conducted in the same conditions as those for the business entities registered on the right side of the Nistru.
