Cristina Gerasimov sworn in

Cristina Gerasimov was sworn in as Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration. The oath-taking ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace on Monday morning, IPN reports.

“I swear to devote all my strength and skills to the prosperity of the Republic of Moldova, to respect the Constitution and laws of the country, to defend democracy, fundamental human rights and freedoms, the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Moldova,” swore Cristina Gerasimov.

President Maia Sandu said that Cristina Gerasimov has experience of work in state institutions, including the President’s Office, and this will help her organize processes efficiently. “We should successfully involve everyone and be able to move quickly so that in the nearest future we can reach the finish line, to be able to celebrate the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the European Union. There is a lot of work to be done. It is an enormous responsibility, but I have confidence,” noted the official.

“I think building Europe at home is the most important thing we must achieve,” stated Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

Cristina Gerasimov will also be Moldova’s chief negotiator in the EU integration process. She will head the Bureau for European Integration.

Until recently, Cristina Gerasimov served as State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. Previously, she held the position of Secretary General of the Office of the President of the Republic of Moldova, but also that of presidential adviser on foreign policy and European integration.
