Crisis on labor market hit agriculture and constructions most

The employers in Moldova did not resort to massive layoffs, but the economic recovery did not prompt them to create new workplaces, said Ana Popa, of the independent analytical center “Expert-Grup”. Commenting on the developments on the labor market this year, the expert said the number of employed persons continues to decrease, reaching the historical minimum of 34.4% in the first quarter of this year, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Though the workload in most of the sectors has increased since the start of the year, the number of persons working in agriculture and constructions fell by 19.8%, in transport and communications – by 15.6% and in industry - by 9.6%. In trade, education, social assistance and even public administration, the number of employees remained unchanged,” Ana Popa said when presenting a study on the subject. The number of working women fell by 4.8%, while of working men – by 7.5%. Many working persons went abroad to look for a job. Their number rose by 5.2%.
