Besides the crisis cell that works at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, a crisis cell will also be constituted at the Ministry of the Interior in connection with the security situation in Israel, Prime Minister Dorin Recean announced in the ordinary meeting of the Cabinet.
According to him, the situation in the Middle East remains tense. Dorin Recean called on the citizens to follow the travel alerts and to leave the affected areas if they are there. The authorities, including the representatives of Moldova’s Embassy, will offer the necessary assistance to each citizen who feels in danger and wants to return home.
In this connection, Minister of the Interior Adrian Efros said the foreign terrorist fighters are an acute and growing threat to international peace and security. The October 7 attacks in Israel confirm this. Also, geopolitical changes occurred after February 24, 2022 and the consequences have a direct impact on the security and life of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
According to him, concrete measures need to be taken to prevent this phenomenon. The Cabinet approved a bill providing that airlines will transmit beforehand information about the travellers to the Unit of Information about Passengers which will be constituted at the Border Police.
This way, data will be transferred immediately after relevant information appears, but not later than 24 hours before the planned departure. If data about the registration of passenger are not available, the airline will pass on updates every two hours. The airlines will also provide the necessary information immediately after the passengers get on the plane that is ready for takeoff.
