Electricity consumption in the Republic of Moldova is fully ensured for today. According to the Crisis Cell, after MGRES stopped supplying electricity to the right bank, neither on the first day of the year nor today there was no need to activate breakdown contracts or unintentional flows.
For January 1, the highest import of consumed energy was secured from Romania, namely 49.27%. The production rate is provided by "Termoelectrica" - 30.37%, from renewable energy - 12.42%, "CET-Nord" - 5.61%, the state enterprise "NHE Costesti" - 1.46%, the Cuciurgan power plant - only 0.5%, and the cogeneration power plants of sugar factories - 0.37%.
In both the natural gas and thermal energy sectors, no breakdowns or incidents were recorded yesterday. Now the pressures in all segments of the transportation system managed by "Vestmoldtransgaz" Ltd. are within the functional parameters. The generating plants of "CET-Nord" and "Termoelectrica" are operating normally.
On the left bank, the Cuciurgan power plant, which has started coal-fired operation, is to cover consumption. According to publicly available data, the plant has coal stocks that could cover the entire electricity consumption of the Transnistrian region for 30 to 50 days.
On January 1, 2025, the Transnistrian region's utilities cut off the supply of natural gas, district heating and hot water to several localities, and disconnected domestic consumers in the localities controlled by the constitutional authorities Varnitsa, Cocieri, Corjova, Koshnitsa, Chernitsa, Dorotcaya, Molovata Noua, Defatta, Pohrebea, Vasilievca, Copanca, Hagimus and Farladeni.
Earlier, the company "Tiraspoltransgaz" disconnected from the gas network several public institutions in localities controlled by the constitutional authorities, including schools, hospitals and cultural institutions. The heating supply was also cut off to penitentiaries No 8 and No 12, the territorial subdivisions of the police and prosecutor's offices of the Republic of Moldova located in the city of Bender.
The authorities in Chisinau are looking for solutions to connect institutions run by national public authorities to alternative energy resources, including the installation of biomass-fired heating plants.
