The Telegram account of the head of the General Police Inspectorate Viorel Cernăuțeanu was hacked. As a result, the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases started a criminal case, IPN reports.

“The investigated offense is the hacking of text information and files sent and received by the GPI head. The infraction was interrupted meanwhile. Criminal proceedings were instituted in this case. Details will be provided later,” the institution noted in a press release.

Earlier, Telegram discussions of other functionaries, including the minister of justice, had been disseminated in the public sphere. The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases said these cases are also investigated so as to identify the culprit and to determine if the conversations are genuine or not.
