The Buiucani Court on January 20 sentenced criminal leader Ion Druta, alias Vanea Pisateli, to five years in jail for selling firearms and ammunition, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The investigation into this case was started last August based on information about firearms provided by the Security and Information Service. A TT pistol and an RPG-18 grenade launcher were discovered in a wood near Varzaresti village of Nisporeni district. On November 4, the offender was arrested and remanded in custody.

The Chisinau Appeals Court is to also examine another case involving Vanea Pisateli, concerning the kidnapping and killing of three men at the end of 2000.
