The persons loyal to the former Democratic leader Vlad Plahotniuc continue to do well after this fled the country, said the president of the Organization for Human Rights “Right to Justice” Pavel Grigorciuc. He referred to the former prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases Vitalie Busuioc, who now works for the State Guard Service. “Even if the power changed – but following the developments in the country it seems to me that nothing really changed – a lot of people who helped the criminal group of Plahotniuc continue to commit crimes against the people and some of them continue to hold their posts,” Pavel Grigorciuc stated in a news conference at IPN.
Pavel Grigorciuc said there are witnesses who can prove that Vitalie Busuioc tried to influence the judge in a criminal case started against Renato Usatyi. Also, there is evidence that the case concerning the organization of the murder attempt on Vlad Plahotniuc, in which a man was sentenced to jail, was fabricated. An entrepreneur was threatened by the prosecutor with the fabrication of a criminal case if this didn’t concede his assets. The man refused and in several days his son was beaten to death.
Among the persons loyal to Plahotniuc, Pavel Grigorciuc also mentioned Adrian Popenco, who worked at the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. Grigorciuc said that this delayed the investigation of a theft so as to be able to destroy evidence. Adrian Popenco is accused of taking part in a number of raider attacks, including on Victoriabank, ASITO and Victoria Asigurări. For his actions, the prosecutor was rewarded with high-ranking posts and generous earnings.
The president of the Organization for Human Rights “Right to Justice” wonders how Adrian Popenco managed to avoid liability and even remained with luxury cars and houses that were officially registered in the name of relatives. The activist presented a video showing how he put a sticker on the gate of the prosecutor’s house with the message: “Attention! I’m corrupt! I took! I gave and I will yet take bribes! My place is in jail”. Pavel Grigorciuc believes Adrian Popenco should have his hidden property confiscated and transferred to the state and he should be jailed.
Pavel Grigorciuc called on the citizens to provide information about corrupt judges and prosecutors if they have such. “We hope the corrupt prosecutors will be dismissed from their posts and sent to prison for their deeds and their property will be confiscated by the state,” was his message.
