The police have arrested a criminal group that smuggled weapons and radioactive materials. The members of the group are from Transnistria. One of them is a colonel nicknamed “Polkovnik”, while others are businessmen, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vitalie Briceag, head of the division for fraud investigation, told the press on Friday that 7 people, aged between 42 and 48, were arrested in Plop-Stiubei, Causeni district. The police doesn’t rule out further arrests. The search of the suspects’ cars found boxes with TNT, grenades, grenade-launchers and machine guns. The division head said that operative information about the criminal group’s activity was received in February. During the investigation, the law enforcement agents made control purchases to confirm the criminal activity. The suspects face up to 7 years in jail.
