A man aged 34 from Telenesti got 20 years in jail for killing his former sister-in-law. He told the police that he resorted to such an act because the woman didn’t appropriately fulfill her obligations of guardian and violated his right to see his children, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the case happened in the victim’s house in Soroca district in December 2013. It was established that the offender, being dissatisfied that the authorities granted his former sister-in-law the guardianship of his minor children, went to the woman’s place, where he beat her and strangled her. Afterward, in order to mislead the police, he staged a suicide.  

Recently, the court sentenced the man to 20 years in jail, fully satisfying the prosecutors’ demand. The sentence is not yet definitive.
