A 38-year-old man has been detained by law enforcement officers, being suspected that after a row caused by alcohol abuse on a construction site, he killed his drinking companion.
According to a press release from the capital's Police, Botanica Police Inspectorate was informed on August 15th about the disappearance of a 61-year-old man, a guard at the construction site on Muncești street. Those who reported the man's disappearance were his relatives, Natalia Stati, press officer of the Police Directorate, told IPN.
The workers on the construction site told the police that they had not seen the man for several days, but did not suspect that something serious had happened. The working group made up of prosecutors, investigating and criminal prosecution officers identified a 38-year-old individual with a criminal record for theft, from a settlement in Anenii-Noi district, suspecting him of involvement in this case.
"During the examination the individual confessed, admitting that on August 10th he came to the victim’s work place and after drinking alcohol they had a row. He delivered several blows to the victim’s head. Taking advantage of the fact that there was no one on the site, he dug a grave and buried the victim”, says a statement of the capital’s Police Inspectorate.
Later, upon the investigation of the place indicated by the perpetrator, the man's body was found. The accused was arrested for 30 days and is being prosecuted for murder.
According to the effective criminal law, he risks a prison sentence of 15 to 20 years or life imprisonment.
