The Resource Center for Human Rights (CReDO) sees two scenarios acceptable for the large-scale events planned for May 1. One scenario is that the sympathizers of the PCRM will go to the memorial complex “Eternity”, while the second scenario is that they will head for the square of the National Opera House, Info-Prim Neo reports. The PCRM’s march will start from the Academy of Sciences at 12 noon. It will go towards the Great National Assembly Square. In order not to intersect with the crowd in the central square of Chisinau, where a national meeting dedicated to the International Workers’ Day is held, CReDO recommends the PCRM to go from the Academy of Sciences along Ismail St to the memorial complex. CReDO director Sergiu Ostaf told a news conference that this scenario would be the most appropriate as it will ensure a stable and peaceful atmosphere. Sergiu Ostaf said that the communist sympathizers may also go to the square of the National Opera House, crossing Stefan cel Mare Blvd. But this scenario is riskier as the two groups of demonstrators may become involved in altercations. CReDO believes that if the sympathizers of the PCRM try to stop in the Great National Assembly Square, the police should form a human chain in order to separate the demonstrators. It recommends the police to negotiate with the organizers and representatives of the two groups so as to avoid conflicts that can degenerate into riots. CReDO also recommends filming the actions of the PCRM and persons who may resort to provocations. A national meeting centering on to the International Workers’ Day began in the Great National Assembly Square at 10:00. At 12 noon, the Communist Party will stage the Second Civic Congress. The sympathizers of the PCRM will go on a march from the Academy of Sciences to the central square of Chisinau.
