Members of the Association of War Veterans “Credință Patriei” (“Faith to the Motherland”) said the imposition of the martial law in Ukraine and the declaring of a state of war in this country generate the danger of a hybrid war in Moldova.
In a news conference at IPN, Gennady Cosovan, chairman of the Association of War Veterans “Credință Patriei”, said the first elements of the hybrid war began to appear in 2014, after the Republic of Moldova signed the Association Agreement with the EU. The hybrid war was started through the attempts to corrupt MPs, the economic diversion in the banking system, the direct attack on Parliament. In Ukraine, a conventional war was started and over 12,000 Ukrainian soldiers have already died. What happened three days ago, when Russian maritime officers attacked Ukrainian Navy vessels and took Ukrainian sailors hostage, showed the war practically reached Moldova’s borders.
The war veterans issued a statement by which they condemn the use of force by the Russian Federation against Ukraine and the attempts to intimidate the neighboring countries. They said they support Ukraine in its efforts to fully defend its territory, including by imposing the martial law in ten Ukrainian regions that border the Russian Federation and the Transnistrian region. “The increased control over the information area so as not to allow the Russian propaganda to enter citizens’ minds is welcome. Regrettably, Moldova is also not bypassed by the danger posed by the Russian imperial regime,” stated Gennady Cosovan.
The members of the Association of War Veterans “Credință Patriei” called on the Moldovan authorities to devote increased attention to the attack staged by Russia in the Kerch Strait as this can affect Moldova too, according to them. The statement issued by the war veterans says the Kremlin uses pseudo-European procedures, such as NGOs or political parties, against the West and Moldova for its interventionist goals. “Among those who attacked the Republic of Moldova are also the Foundation “Open Dialog” and its president Ludmina Kozlovska,” reads the statement.
The war veterans regret that Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase, who claim to be Europeans, allowed to be attracted into this trap set by the Russian intelligence services. “For us it is offensive as they didn’t publicly assume this mistake, confusing the people of good faith,” said the veterans. They called on the two politicians to publicly confess if they were involuntarily involved in the operation “Open Dialog” and to condemn the interference by this NGO in the internal affairs of the county.
The members of the Association of War Veterans “Credință Patriei” also called upon the law enforcement agencies to have their eye on the persons or parties that serve Moscow and to take legal action over treason if need be.
