Creative contest “Energy efficiency week in my school”

The Energy Efficiency Agency, in partnership with UNDP Moldova, launched the second edition of the creative contest “Energy efficiency week in my school”. The contest is designed to offer primary and secondary school students the possibility of contributing to saving energy and to promoting energy efficiency measures and renewable energy, IPN reports.

Groups of children aged between 6 and 10 (category I) and between 11 and 16 (category II) can apply to take part in the contest starting with May 10, by organizing interactive activities centering on energy efficiency and renewable energy, such as information campaigns, video messages/short films, debates, open lessons, essays, mind games, flashmob meetings. Six institutions/classes will be awarded for the best activities.

“The education of the future generations is essential for promoting a more responsible and environment-friendly lifestyle. Through the agency of this contest, we aim to contribute to gradually raising awareness of the role of energy efficiency as a key element in the transition to a sustainable, safe and competitive energy system for more equitable access to natural resources so as to protect the environment and to develop an energy culture among young people,” said Ion Muntean, director of the Energy Efficiency Agency.

The creative contest “Energy efficiency week in my school” is launched on the occasion of the European Sustainable Energy Week in the framework of the program “Addressing the Impacts of the Energy Crisis in Moldova” that is financed by the EU and implemented by UNDP Moldova.
