Craftsmen from different countries to meet at native place of potter Vasile Gonciar

About 50 craftsmen from the neighboring countries will take part in the third International Pottery Fair “At the Native Place of Potter Vasile Gonciar” in Hoginesti, Calarasi, on July 21. Craftsmen working in different areas will showcase their skills, while ethno-folkloric ensembles will give performances. The visitors will be able to taste traditional dishes.

Contacted by IPN, festival organizer Vasile Gonciar said that Hoginesti village is known all over the country for its ceramics. Regretfully, the art of making pots and dishes from clay is close to disappearing and the festival is aimed at restoring pottery in the area where there are no other tourist attractions.

The fair will include interactive pottery workshops where all those who want can learn to make pots and to paint ceramics. Those who will visit the festival will be able to buy pottery. Vasile Gonciar added that the dishes from clay become more popular every year as there are people who know the quality of the ceramic objects, while ceramics can become a successful art in Moldova and a method of attracting tourists.

The International Pottery Fair will start at 8am and will close at 4pm, with the awarding of the craftsmen.
