The COVID-19 vaccination campaign is kicked off in Romania and all over the EU on December 27, President Klaus Iohannis announced in a press briefing, being quoted by IPN.
According to the Romanian official, the vaccination starts with a first rather symbolic tranche, but the next tranches of vaccines will come immediately after Christmas and the pace will be kept until the whole population benefits from shots. Klaus Iohannis noted that the vaccines are safe, efficient and were authorized in accordance with the highest European standards.
A month ago, Romanian senator Viorel Badea, president of PNL Diaspora, the European Union signed a contract for the first tranche of 30 million doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and Romania will get 4% of these shots, “The Liberal Government decided to donate a part of the quantity intended for Romania to the Republic of Moldova.” he said, without specifying when and in what quantities the doses will be provided.
