COVID-19 situation in Chisinau municipality alarming

In the municipality of Chisinau, the situation concerning the spread of infections with the novel coronavirus is alarming due to the non-observance of the protection measures, Tatiana Bucharski, division head at the General Social Assistance and Health Division, was quoted by IPN as saying.

According to her, there are 624 beds in the strategic hospitals of the municipality and 459 of them are occupied by persons with COVID-19. Fifty-eight patients are in a serious state, four of them being put on a ventilator and three being intubated. During June 1-7, 192 patients were discharged from the hospital and five people died.

A total of 3,076 persons contracted the novel coronavirus in the municipality of Chisinau. By now, 1,618 of them got cured, while 112 died.

Mayor General of Chisinau municipality Ion Ceban called on the parents not to allow the children to go to playgrounds as these pose of a threat of infection. He instructed the officials in charge to formulate relevant proposals, noting that the playgrounds could be again sealed up. The mayor asked the responsible functionaries to examine the shopping centers in Chisinau, which reopened on June 8, so as to see if they obey the prophylactic measures. The traders who will not comply with the municipal extraordinary commission for public health’s decision will be penalized.
