COVID-19 cases in Chisinau on constant rise

The number of infections with the novel coronavirus in the municipality of Chisinau has increased constantly. The incidence is high and there are many serious and very serious cases. Based on the indicators presented by the responsible authorities, the state of public health emergency in the capital city was maintained, with a red alert being issued, IPN reports.

In the ordinary meeting of officials of Chisinau services, the head of the Social Assistance and Health Division Tatiana Bucharski said that 1,413 patients with COVID-19 can be admitted to municipal hospitals. There are 200 triage beds at the COVID-19 triage center at Moldexpo. There are available 1,180 beds for grownups, 163 beds for children, 40 beds for pregnant women and new mothers and 30 palliative beds.

Up to 300 beds are to be gradually set up at the COVID-19 triage center. When the repair works at the Saint Trinity Hospital are finished in April, a new intensive care and anesthesia unit will be opened there. As many as 68 beds for persons infected with the novel coronavirus will be available at this hospital.

Tatiana Bucharski said the municipal hospitals have the medicines and protective equipment needed for treating patients with COVID-19.

Moldova until February 21 has got 176,752 cases of COVID-19, 75,701 of which were recorded in the municipality of Chisinau. As many as 8,371 persons in the municipality are currently under medical supervision.
