Those two walnut trees and two cherry trees of the courtyard located on Ginta Latina Street 3/3 of the Ciocana district, about which Info-Prim Neo has informed several days ago, were cut down because of the fitting out works of the model-district in this area. The head of the Ciocana district, Ion Gabura, announced about this and said that other cuttings are expected, as well, as a result of the same works. From the start, head Ion Gabura noted, mentioning the information of the head of the Green Spaces Management Association (AGSV) of the district, Anatol Botezatu, that only one walnut tree was cut down in this courtyard, on the ground that it was near the apartment block, and it roots affected the foundation of the block. At his turn, the deputy head of the Chisinau Ecologic Agency, Vladimir Ciobanu, underlined that the cutting was illegal, on the ground that the Agency has rejected the application of cutting the trees in this courtyard. He mentioned that, as result of making public the information, the inspector of the Ecologic Agency found the person responsible, who was in fact AGSV master from this. Proceedings were initiated, and presented to the court of the district. According to the legislation in force, he risks a fine of 100 lei and repairing the damage caused to the environment that will be calculated depending on the species and diameter of the trees highlighted Ciobanu. Referring to trees cutting procedure, Ciobanu noted that AGSV is responsible for this activity, which works only with the permission of the Chisinau Ecologic Agency, issued after the inspector’s expertise on the spot. In case when there is no permission from the Agency, the cutting is considered illegal, mentioned Ciobanu. Two walnut trees, aged 30, and two cherry trees from the courtyard of the block 3/3 located on the Ginta Latina street were cut down on Friday, June 2, by several workers who presented to the inhabitants an application with the list of the trees following to be cut. The application was signed by two inhabitants of the 3d and 6th apartments of this block, who later, according to head Ion Gabura, said that they did not require the cuttings.
