The Chisinau Appeals Court rejected the lawyers’ appeal and upheld without any changes the Ciocana Court’s judgment by which the  Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office’s request to authorize the completion of the investigation into the bank fraud in the absence of the accused Vladimir Plahotniuc was accepted, IPN reports.

Minister of the Interior Ana Revenco said the former leader of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc wasn’t put on the international wanted list. The status of this person remained unchanged over the past year. The notice in the Interpol database is not active. “Therefore, our authorities made direct approaches to the authorities of the countries in which he reportedly or allegedly stays now,” Ana Revenco said in the program “In Depth” on ProTV Chisinau channel. The minister expressed her conviction that not much time has left until the Moldovan fugitives will have their freedom of movement, of expression and other rights considerably restricted.

Vlad Plahotniuc is on the sanctions list that the European Union is to adopt. He is to be sanctioned for actions that destabilize the Republic of Moldova. The former Democratic leader was also put on the United States’ and the UK’s sanctions list for actions that cause harm to the Republic of Moldova.
