The Court of Chisinau Municipality moves to the building that housed the Ministry of Agriculture. The Centru branch of the Court already works in the given building, which is being refurbished for housing also judges of the other branches, Minister of Justice Vladimir Cebotari said in hearings staged by the Parliament’s legal commission for appointments and immunity, which centered on the implementation of the legislation aimed at optimizing the judicial map, IPN reports.
Vladimir Cebotari reminded that the law to optimize the national courts of law was adopted in March 2016. Only 15 of the 44 courts will continue work. Identifying head offices for the courts of Chisinau, Orhei, Edinet, Hancesti, Causeni and Cahul was a goal set for 2017. So far, head officers have been identified for the courts of Chisinau, Edinet, Hancesti and Cahul. There is a viable option for the court of Orhei. Also, the land on which to erect the court of Causeni will be allotted by mid-December.
Nina Cernat, a member of the Superior Council of Magistracy, said particular issues haven’t been taken into account in the implementation of the law on the optimization of the judicial map, mainly the location of penitentiaries. The detainees will have to be transported from one district to another. The needs of the citizens were also neglected. The Russian-language speakers in some of the districts in southern Moldova will have to go to the court in Cimislia, where the judges, who are mainly young, do not know Russian.
Liberal-Democratic MP Tudor Deliu said the parliamentary group he heads spoke about these problems when the law was discussed in Parliament. Some of the aspects should be reviewed at least now so as to solve the underlined problems.
Democratic MP Sergiu Sarbu said the reorganization of the court of law is a complex process that is adjusted to the realities in Moldova and the people will feel in time the benefits of this process.
