Court of Appeals postpones re-examination of Antena C, Euro TV case

The Court of Appeals will re-examine on October 16 the case filed against the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) by a group of staffers from the former public stations Antena C Radio and Euro TV channel. The court sitting scheduled for September 26 was postponed at the request of the attorney for CMC, who claimed he didn’t manage to get acquainted with the judgment pronounced by the Supreme Court of Justice on July 11. Maria Orlov, attorney for the journalists, says that the reason invoked by the lawyer for CMC is a classic scheme to delay the judicial process. This opinion is shared by Antena C’s former deputy manager Ecaterina Stratan, who believes that a period of 3 months is more than sufficient for anyone to study a court decision. Ecaterina Stratan told Info-Prim Neo the journalists hoped that once the administration in the capital city had changed, the attitude towards this case would change too, but it didn’t happen. More than 30 employees of the two stations have requested the annulment of the sale procedure of the respective media institutions. The plaintiffs demand compensations of 100,000 for each for the moral harm caused.
