Court lifts restriction on travel on PSDM leader
The Buiucani District Court annulled on Friday, December 15 the order barring Eduard Musuc, Social Democrat Party (PSDM) leader, from leaving the country, replacing it with a "simple summons".
According to a press release from PSDM, disseminated by Info-Prim Neo, Musuc’s case was to be examined in a hearing on Friday. It was postponed for December 22 because the claimant was missing the trial. Moreover, the files of the case do not even specify who the claimant is and who represents it, the statement says.
On September 28, 2006, the Court of Buiucani district issued a 10 day arrest warrant on Musuc, following an order of the Centre against Economic Crime and Corruption. Eduard Musuc and his father, Ion Musuc are charged with taking illegally into property a building located on Alba Iulia 77, which belongs to JSC “Mold Itel”.
On October 11, the Court of Appeal set free Eduard Musuc under a bail of MDL 2 mln, the maximum sum admitted by the legislation of the Republic of Moldova. Because his relatives did not manage to collect this sum, Musuc remained in custody. However, he was released on November 14.
Both Eduard Musuc and PSDM believe that these accusations were forged at the order of the communist government.
